The number of Ontarians with disabilities who require income assistance is staggering. There are more people on ODSP than there are people on Ontario Works — the equivalent for people without disabilities. Let me say this again. I get it, ODSP is there for people with disabilities who are in financial need. It is a social benefit, offering an income to those who are struggling. However, the amount offered is difficult to live on, especially in an urban centre like Toronto where the cost of living is high.

Genco is responsible for those activities relating to the generation of power. In addition, Servco also provides meter reading and billing services related to water and sewage for the Town. The board of directors for Holdco consists of the Mayor and four appointed members by the Town Council.
Much of the province’s history with electricity is bound up in a now-defunct entity that came to be known as Ontario Hydro. Stewart said it was responsible for all three components of the province’s electricity system — owning and operating the power producers, transmitting the power, and regulating rates.
Ontario Common Law Ontario The definition of what is common law in Ontario depends on what legal right is at issue. Each Ontario statute defines common law differently, so you could be considered common law for one purpose and not for another. In this article, I look at what family law and estate law rights and obligations a common law partner has.
If you and your partner are living common law, then you will be considered a spouse for spousal support purposes if you and your partner have cohabited for three years; or if you and your partner live in a relationship of permanence and have a child together. Once a common law partner is considered a spouse for spousal support purposes, they have the same rights and obligations regarding spousal support as if they were married. The entitlement and amount of spousal support will depend on factors like: You can get a rough idea as to the amount and length of spousal support here.
Property Rights Unlike a married spouse, a common law partner in Ontario has no right to seek an equalization of net family property a division of assets. Each person keeps what is in his or her name.

But how does the system work? The Canadian Press tried to tackle those questions. How did we get to the current state of affairs?
My water pipe doesn’t drain in the winter, and Retro-Line has prevented freeze-up. In fact since I have installed it, I haven’t even noticed any decrease flow in water or increase in the hydro bill. Rob – Concord, Ontario.
Quebec Education Ministry’s administrative guide – edition Note: CBC does not endorse and is not responsible for the content of external links. They were stunned to learn the Quebec Ministry of Education didn’t recognize private schools outside the province. Shane Ford’s mother, Kim Bullett, said when a placement counsellor told them her son’s credits weren’t recognized in Quebec, she almost threw up.
CBC “To be very honest with you, when that woman said the credits were no good, it took me everything not to vomit,” said Kim Bullett, Ford’s mother. Officials at the New Frontiers School Board told them Ford would have to repeat his last two years of high school. He practises with them four times a week. At first, Shane Ford’s parents worried the private school he went to hadn’t been authorized by Ontario’s Education Ministry to grant high-school credits.
I have a full-time job. She initially thought the hockey academy was at fault, promising high school credits it couldn’t deliver. Shane Ford’s parents said sending him back to Ontario to finish his schooling wasn’t an option, as it was too expensive and logistically impossible. CBC For the adult education sector, the guidelines clearly state: Ford would need to re-do all his classes.

Hydro has become a hot button issue in Ontario. Clark says the government needs to fix this, particularly for rural residents who are especially hard-hit. “It’s a complete shambles,” says Clark.
The main idea came from reading a variety of forums, old Mother Earth News articles, and checking out some old newsgroups. It seemed that others had had some success creating solar heaters in a variery of methods, from something as complex as a custom built metal heat exchanger to something as simple as a bale of irrigation hose sitting on a slope. I decided to aim somewhat inbetween these extremes and came up with a solar “panel” consisting of a 4’x4′ plywood sheet on a frame with as much irrigation hose as I could coil onto the surface I’ve added a diagram to show the piping clearly, and added a bit more description at the end of the article The whole thing is propped up with legs at more-or-less the optimal angle for my location, and pointing more-or-less south.
The inside of the frame was painted flat black, and the copper pipe brackets were painted flat black as well, after the thing was together. I put it on patio bricks this year to make it easier to mow around Click any of the small images for a full size in a new window. Side View Here is the ‘T’ off the pump. This is after the chlorinator, to hopefully keep the nastiness build-up in the hose away. I also added a ball valve in the line, which is super helpful in keeping the flow through the heater to a trickle.
This allows the water to get hotter in the pipe, and maintain some thermal mass. Note the lovely collapsible legs for easy winter storage Backside And always inelegant, the tie-wrapped outlet hose. I keep meaning to fabricate a nice contoured pipe that can come up the side, around the cap and point down inside at the wall so no water ever gets on the solar blanket, but just don’t seem to get around to it.

Meteorological history of Hurricane Sandy Map plotting the track and the intensity of the storm, according to the Saffir—Simpson scale Hurricane Sandy began as a low pressure system which developed sufficient organized convection to be classified as Tropical Depression Eighteen on October 22 south of Kingston, Jamaica.
Low wind shear and warm waters allowed for strengthening, and the system was named Tropical Storm Sandy late on October The National Weather Service was criticized for not employing its higher-resolution forecast models the way that its European counterpart did. A hardware and software upgrade completed at the end of enabled the weather service to make more accurate predictions, and do so far more in advance than the technology in had allowed.

Bonanza in scrap, or millions to demolish? The bigger issue is, who is going to pay for it. Some municipalities demand from wind turbine companies ongoing payments into protected or escrow accounts or bonds to set money aside annually to pay for decommissioning. Some municipalities require a letter of intent from wind turbine companies to ensure they will be responsible for decommissioning.
Some municipalities have no agreement at all, including Wolfe Island, said its mayor, Denis Doyle. TransAlta communications manager Stacey Hatcher said the decommissioning plans are between the company and the landowner and because of that, the info is confidential. Lawrence River at Kingston, were built by Canadian Hydro Developers, later purchased by Trans Alta and there is no bond or escrow account in place. Of course, that price goes up over time. Many landowners were told that it was to their benefit to decommission the turbines themselves as there is so much scrap value in the turbines; this is untrue due to the quality of metal being used, and also the other costs of decommissioning such as crane rental, and disposal of the toxic components.
So, that would be the millions then… 3. It is now owned by EDP Renewables. In the original negotiations with Prowind, the developer wanted the landowners and the municipality to be responsible for decommissioning costs. It was the local community group that brought these costs to the attention of the municipality, and played a significant role in the agreement now in place.

Canadian Capitalist June 22, at If you can handle it, self-insurance is cheaper in the long run. It does seem to me that renting is at least competitive with owning in your case. Yes, I do wish I had acted on your post. I agree that those planning to move shortly would be better off renting and passing the contract over the new owner. TonyR June 22, at Here the tank is considered part of the house just like th furnace. Out of curiosity, how old was your old tank when it died?
